The three nominees below have been selected by the Nominating Committee to run in the 2024 Board Election in April.

Call for petitions

If you’re interested in serving as a member of the Board of Directors and missed out on submitting a nomination, you can petition the membership to be placed on the ballot – if you became a member of the credit union by December 31, 2023. Submit a petition signed by at least 500 Arizona Financial members by March 1, 2024. Call 602-683-1000 to learn how to get started.

Debora Black

Debora has been a member of Arizona Financial for more than 43 years. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University, and a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University.

After a 40-year career in law enforcement serving the City of Phoenix and the cities of Glendale and Prescott as Chief of Police, Debora is currently a licensed counselor. She also has experience managing multi-million dollar municipal and charitable organization budgets and has served in board leadership positions including Boys and Girls Clubs, New Life Center, Arizona Police Chiefs Association and Prescott Women Who Care. She has also served as Executive Fellow for National Policing Institute, Practitioner Policy Adviser for Addiction Policy Forum, and Charter Member of Council on Criminal Justice.

If elected to the Board, her focus would be ensuring exceptional financial services are offered to all members while assuring the safety and soundness of Arizona Financial. She’s also interested in expanding service opportunities to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Jennifer Genga

Jennifer has been a member of Arizona Financial since 2016 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2016, when she was elected to fulfill the remaining term of a retiring Board member. She holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (2020), Master of Arts in Special Education (2016), Master of Arts in Organizational Management (2004) and Bachelor of Arts in Communication (2002) from Arizona State University, the University of Phoenix and Northern Arizona University.

Jennifer is a freshman English teacher and speech and debate coach for Canyon View High School in the West Valley, and she has 19 years of experience teaching. She also coaches the cross country team for the Canyon View Jaguars. Jennifer worked at Arizona Financial for 6 years while pursuing her undergraduate and first master’s degrees.

If re-elected, Jennifer would like to create a partnership between Arizona Financial and local school districts to offer more financial literacy to children and young adults, empowering them to make healthy financial choices. Jennifer also has a passion for ensuring Arizona Financial remains a choice employer in the Valley.

Meet
Zeek Ojeh

Zeek has been a member of Arizona Financial since 1987. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2018, and is currently the Board Treasurer.

Zeek holds a Master of Business Administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as certified public accountant, certified internal auditor and certified financial services auditor licenses.

In addition to being the president of ZalMar, Inc., he has served as the Acting Superintendent for the Balsz School District, Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), governor’s appointee to the Arizona Manufactured Housing Board and Arizona Housing Finance Authority, Arizona Supreme Court Foster Care Review board member, Catholic Tuition Organization board member, and Association of Arizona Food Banks board member.

If re-elected, his goals are membership and deposit growth, prudent investment of resources and to ensure the continued soundness and safety of the Arizona Financial Credit Union.
