As part of our Local Causes giveback program, when you shop with your Local Causes debit card, we make a contribution to a community fund, for grants to smaller Arizona nonprofits – to help support their programs.
In 2023, Arizona Financial gifted a total of $100,000 in grants, including a first-time ever $15,000 grant, awarded to United Sound, a local Mesa nonprofit that provides special needs music programs at area high schools.
United Sound & the power of music
United Sound’s nonprofit music program matches special needs high school students with peer mentors to provide individualized classes to learn an instrument. The students are provided with an opportunity to learn an instrument at a pace that accommodates for their disability.
"There’s always three peer mentors for each new musician,” said Julie Duty, United Sound executive director. “You have three brand new friends that are people that you might not have interacted with in any way otherwise. We have a social inclusion mission that we are accomplishing through music.”
United Sound will use the funding from the grant for their peer mentorship program and purchasing instruments and musical equipment.
Accepting grant applications: August 26 - September 9, 2024
We’ll be accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations in Arizona with an operating budget of $2 million or less. Please share this opportunity with your favorite local nonprofit. Recipients will be announced in early December.
