Alert Preferences

You can choose to receive alerts for all transactions or only specific transactions.

If you would like to receive an alert for every transaction then select All Transactions.

If you would like to receive alerts for only specific types of transactions such as merchant type or by spend limit, then you will need to customize your alert preference settings.

Our fraud monitoring service stopped the transaction from posting on the account when it detected the transaction may have been fraudulent.

Since the transaction did not carry all the way through to our processing system, it did not trigger a CardPower alert.

Yes, control and alert preferences perform different functions.

If you set control preferences and a transaction gets denied, you will receive an alert notification immediately.

But if you want a transaction to go through but still be alerted, you need to set alert preferences.

Since this was just a transfer within the same account, the transaction did not go through the credit card network, so an alert was not initiated.

For an alert to appear, a transaction must go through the credit card network.

You will receive a transaction alert notification if the location of the merchant is not in the vicinity of the primary device of the cardholder.

Typically, My Location is at the ZIP code level, which may be a few miles from your exact location.

In some cases, the ZIP code is not received as part of the transaction, in which case the city level is used, or sometimes even the state level within the United States.

You can disable receiving the push notification by going to your phone’s settings and turning notifications off.

However, if you have set up any alert policies, the card and account alerts will still show in the Messages section of the CardPower app.

If you wish to receive the push notifications for transactions again, you can go back to your phone’s settings and turn notifications back to on.

Yes, you will receive alerts for any transactions if you turn off your card.

Once you turn a card on, it should be available for use immediately.

The system will continue to monitor all activity and will apply your latest preferences on future transactions. However, the system will stop using location for matching purposes.

Any alerts generated while your phone was turned off will be available for you to view once the device has been reactivated.

It will not affect the on/off control nor will it affect any non-location-based alerts, such as merchant type or threshold alerts.

However, turning off location tracking will affect My Location preferences that you may have set. You will be notified by the system that My Location alerts will be deactivated.

No. All “card not present” purchases, including internet and recurring payments, will not generate alerts if you have selected location-based alerts.

Alerts will be generated for any transaction that exceeds the spend limit.

Transactions below or at the threshold setting will not generate any alerts.

App Login

Yes, you can log in to the CardPower app from any device and set control and alert preferences.

The one preference that depends on device is My Location.

CardPower uses the primary device (see Settings page) for proximity correlation of My Location.

Only primary device location is used for My Location, and only one device can be primary for a user. Also, alerts are sent only to the primary device.

For Apple users, press the icon that has three stacked lines to reach the menu.

For Android users, here are three most common methods depending on your device:

  • Press the dedicated menu button on your phone. This will pull up the CardPower app menu while you are logged in to the app.
  • Press the icon that has three stacked dots or stacked lines to reach the menu.
  • For devices that don't have either option above, hold down the recent apps button (lower left corner, next to the home screen). This will open the menu.

Control Preferences

Control settings take effect as soon as the “Updating Information” message in the app stops.

There are many reasons why a transaction may be denied.

You may not have sufficient funds, the transaction may be suspected fraud, you may have set control preferences that cause denial, etc.

To verify if it was a control preference that caused the decline, simply select the transaction in question, tap on the transaction details to flip the box, and see the control preference that triggered the decline.

CardPower allows you to control your card and set rules for where it cannot be used.

Even if a transaction is consistent with the usage policies that you have set, it may be declined for other reasons. For example the transaction triggered fraud rules or you do not have sufficient funds, etc.

A transaction that fails your control rules will be declined, but a transaction that passes your control rules is still not always guaranteed to be approved.

Yes, recurring transactions that have already been set prior to turning the card off will continue to go through.

No, once the card is turned off, no purchases or ATM activity can be performed.

A shared card may be controlled by multiple users.

For example, both you and your son may have added the card to your respective apps. Even if you turn off the card, he may have turned it back on.

The region shows the approximate area where the card can be used. CardPower can typically map the transaction down to a ZIP code or city.

If the city or ZIP code of the merchant overlaps with the selected region in the map, then the transaction can still go through.

There are instances where a merchant location cannot be mapped down to a ZIP code or city, in which case CardPower will default to a state-level match.


The CardPower mobile app is a secure product for the following reasons:

  • The mobile application does not store any protected cardholder data (such as debit or credit card numbers, PIN, CVV/CVV2, etc.).
  • It only displays a payment card using common, publicly-used references, such as the last four digits of the card number and the cardholder name.
  • By design, the mobile application does not contain any information that is subject to PCI-DSS or PA-DSS rules, because it can be downloaded and run on any unprotected device.
  • The user provides login credentials and passes them to the authentication server without storing any passwords internally.
  • In case of lost mobile devices, the user login for the CardPower mobile app can be remotely deactivated, thereby stopping any unauthorized access.

You will need to manually delete the app from your old phone and download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play onto your new phone.

Location Controls

Yes, you can log in to the CardPower app from any device and set control and alert preferences.

The one preference that depends on device is My Location.

CardPower uses the primary device (see Settings page) for proximity correlation of My Location. Only one device can be primary for a user.

My Location control only takes effect if:

  1. Location tracking is enabled on the mobile device,
  2. Location tracking is enabled for the CardPower application,
  3. My Location is enabled for control or alert on a card, and
  4. Device is primary for the user.

Typically, My Location is at the ZIP code level, which may be a few miles from your exact location.

In some cases, the ZIP code is not received as part of the transaction, in which case the city level is used, or sometimes even the state level within the United States.

The important point to note is that location is not at the level of a few feet or even a mile – it is a few miles, and in some cases much wider.

In some cases the merchant may process all of their card transactions in a central processing center, which could be in a different city, state and/or ZIP code.

Since the city, state and/or ZIP code shows a location outside the area where your phone is located, it will decline when the My Location Control Preference is on.

This is common with purchases made at vending machines or kiosks where the central processing is often performed in a different location than where the terminal is physically located.

If you click on the transaction summary in CardPower, the city and state where the processing is taking place is located under the merchant's name.

CardPower ignores location information that is more than one hour old.

So, if your phone is off for more than an hour, then My Location will not take effect, and the transaction will not be denied on the basis of the old location information.

CardPower does proximity check at the ZIP code or city level, so if you are shopping close to home your, transactions will still go through.

If you have left your phone at home and want to turn off My Location or use a different device, then you need to log in from a different device and either turn off My Location or change the primary device.

You should not turn on My Location for a card that you do not carry with you

You can use the My Regions feature to set usage preferences for where the card can be used.

Set location preference to My Regions, then add a new region to set the map to the area where you want the card to be used.

Setting "Block International" for control preferences means that all international transactions are denied.

Setting "International" for alert preferences means that any international transaction will trigger an alert.


A “Server Unreachable” error means the CardPower app could not connect to the CardPower server that communicates with Arizona Financial.

Tap on the bar again – sometimes the server is unreachable when your network connectivity is weak or intermittent, and retrying the connection by tapping on the “Server Unreachable” message connects the application to the server.

If the problem persists, you may have to stop the application and restart it.

If the server is down for maintenance, the problem may persist and you may have to try again later.

If this consistently occurs, please contact Arizona Financial at (602) 683-1768.

Please stop and restart the application. If the network connectivity is indeed available, the application should start and try connecting to the server. Sometimes, when the network connectivity is weak or intermittent, you may have to restart the application to connect to the server.

There are times when the card network is unable to connect to our processing system due to connectivity issues, transactional volume or maintenance periods.

This is not frequent, but happens from time to time. When this occurs, control preferences will not work and purchases can be approved.

If these are unauthorized transactions, please remember that you have Zero Liability Coverage on any unauthorized or fraudulent transactions on your account.

Please report any unauthorized or fraudulent transaction to the credit union by filling out a fraud dispute form located under Additional Services within your online account.

You are responsible for any legitimate purchases made during these times. It is a good practice to avoid “testing” the capabilities of the app because you are responsible for any legitimate purchases.


Only one user can register using a unique account number.

It will be sent to the primary email address you have on file with Arizona Financial.

There is no limit to the number of Arizona Financial accounts you can add to CardPower.

The application does not provide SMS based alerts.

It only provides app notifications on the phone which has been selected as the primary device

In order to select the device as primary, you must log in to the app with your login credentials, click on settings, and set the primary device to “on.”

The app doesn't store any sensitive data so even if you lose your phone, no one will see your card or account numbers. Sensitive data is always masked in the app.


Please log in from the new phone, go to the settings page, and enable the device as the primary device.

Primary device is the device to which alert notifications are sent, and the device that is used to correlate your location for the My Location feature.

Note that you must have the notifications enabled on the phone for this application, and location services enabled for My Location to work.

You need to enable notifications on the phone for the application, you need to enable notifications in the app in the settings page, and you need to enable primary device on the phone.

All three conditions must be met for you to receive alert notifications.

For iPhone, please go to the settings of the phone and go to the notifications link. For the CardPower application, select the notification format as desired.

For Android devices, alerts will appear in the middle of the screen if you have the app open. If the app is not currently displaying on the phone, then alerts will show in the notification panel of your phone.

You can set Do Not Disturb hours under the app’s settings menu to suppress notification during the set times.

Some notifications will still be delivered. For example any transaction denial or any transaction that is a card-present authorization.

Currently only Apple iOS and Google Android-based devices are supported.

Spend Controls

The Spend Limit is the limit per transaction.

All transactions will be declined.

There are some merchant types where a merchant will pre-authorize the card for an amount that may be larger than the actual transaction amount.

Examples include gas stations, hotels, car rentals, equipment rentals, etc. – similarly many situations where you present a card and receive a service before paying for it.

In such cases, a merchant may pre-authorize your card for a higher amount than the actual transaction. It is a hold on your account; the money is not actually charged to your account at that time.

But in such cases, the pre-authorization may fail if the amount is greater than the Spend Limit set in the app.

CardPower controls are only invoked during authorization of a transaction.

In some cases, such as gas stations, a card may be tested for validity by doing a $1 pre-authorization, and the actual transaction amount is charged to the card after the transaction.

Some gas stations will pre-authorize for a max amount (e.g., $126) and some will check, validating a smaller amount (e.g., $1).

In the latter case, the actual transaction amount may exceed the limit, while in the former case, an authorization may be denied.

View Information

The list of recent transactions will show the 50 most recent transactions up to 30 days’ worth on your card.

Go to the main menu and tap the Manage Portfolio link.

You can now enable or disable the accounts and cards you want to manage.

You must manage at least one card and at least one account. Please remember to tap “OK” to save your settings.

No, the CardPower app does not have the option to export the list of transactions to an external computer at this time. However, you can perform this function in your online account.

No, the transaction list for your account in the CardPower app most likely will not be the same as the one you see in your online account or the mobile banking app.

CardPower only displays card transactions that impact the account linked to the card.

It would not show transactions on the account that were done through other means, such as check deposit, online transfers and ACH transactions.

Your online banking transaction history and mobile banking app would show all of these transactions.
